The Growing Number of Voices of the Multiracial Community

The Multiracial Community is growing.  At least that’s what they say.

According to a 2015 article from the Pew Research Center, 6.9% of the adult U.S. population is Multiracial.

And, it is estimated that the number of Multiracial youth is on the rise.  Yet, even if one were to apply the 6.9% figure to the overall population, that means there are more than 20 million Multiracial Americans.  That is, indeed, a sizable number.

And, the number of Multiracial people born each year is growing because of the growing number of interracial couples and marriages.  So that 20 million number is sure to increase and at an increasing rate.

What does this mean for the U.S. and the World?

First, it means, the population is growing more diverse.

Second, it means, that consumer-oriented brands will want to diversity their marketing and messaging if they hope to reach this ever-diversifying and growing audience.

Third, it means the content we can expect to be created by artists and so-called “content creators” will reflect this growing diversity of race, ethnicity and perspective.

Indeed, examples of that can be found, especially on YouTube where the number of interracial couples regularly producing V-Logs is staggering.  Here are a few examples:
