From new polls on America’s shifting racial attitudes, good news about Comedy Central’s late-night programming, alleged solidarity in a controversial CNN – White House standoff, to a promising new project from Race Forward, this week’s roundup reflects the incredible diversity that are standard fare in Multiracial life today.

New Study Finds 3 of 10 Americans Against Interracial Marriage

In the one-step-forward, 100-yards-back dance of fighting for racial equality, a new study by Reuters/Ipso and the University of Virginia conducted after racial attacks in Charlottesville, shows that “troubling racial attitudes continue to pervade American life, including opposition to interracial marriage and the importance of protecting ‘White European Heritage.’”

The good news: only 6 percent of respondents said they “strongly or somewhat supported’ the alt-right, and 8 percent expressed support for White nationalism. However, 31 percent agreed that “America must protect and preserve its White European heritage, and 39 concurred that “White people are currently under attack” in the U.S. And 59 percent said that political correctness “threatens our liberty as Americans to speak our minds.”

Oh, and 57 percent of participants supported keeping Confederate monuments right where they are.

Trevor Noah’s Contract Extended Until 2022

Comedy Central announced that Trevor Noah, a Biracial South African who grew up during apartheid and has a uniquely brilliant take on politics here and around the world, will continue as host of “The Daily Show” for at least another five years.

When Noah took over from John Stewart two years ago, few Americans had heard of him.  

Comedy Central President Kent Alterman told the Los Angeles Times reports, that Noah is “so brilliant and thoughtful and incisive and funny,” as he builds a strong following of younger viewer and expands the shows reach online.

Race Forward Announces ‘Mass Freedom’ Project for a Better America

As mass criminalization target and harm communities of color, the folks at Race Forward: The Center for Racial Justice Innovation is launching the Mass Freedom project “to bridge the movements fighting to end mass incarceration and mass deportation under a shared vision for a multiracial democracy,” according to Business Insider.  

“Mass criminalization is an assault on the humanity, safety, and fundamental rights of people of color,” said Glenn Harris, President of Race Forward. “Our nation is facing an existential crisis as mass deportation and incarceration continue to ravage communities of color. Mass Freedom is our effort to come together, take action, and unite amidst a political landscape that grows more threatening with each day.”
