A Poem 4 Prince

Let me take your

Little red corvette 4 a spin

Around the circumference of your mind

With a careless kind of urgency

Like it’s the end of 1999

Let’s go crazy

And let the doves cry

4 all the time that has come and went

I can’t believe it’s been a year since u left

We make do with your memory

Amidst the sign o’ the times

As we brace the elevator’s journey

Through this thing called life

Nothing compares 2 u

Your wits, your boundlessness

Your dance with controversy

And defying musicology

U once told us “I would die 4 u”

But we crave for a resurrection

We only wish 2 see u singing

One more time

In the purple rain
